About

I'm Paddy McNabb — an AI Engineer with a Ph.D. in Power System Dynamics and a first-class M.Eng in Electronics & Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.

Over 19 years I've built production AI and ML systems across Energy, Financial Services, and the Public Sector.

This blog is where I document my work on edge-scale evaluation of LLM performance on RISC-V, from classic benchmarks down to micro-architectural profiling. The aim is always to understand exactly where performance is gained or lost, right down to the instruction level, where the RISC-V ISA is fully open and extensible by design.
